This was taken from some Bible Study notes from “1992”. What you are about to read is from a study on singleness, being single, and what it means. It’s not complete, but it’s pieced together as best possible. Enjoy:

*It is OK, to be single, but not alone. People don’t have a singleness problem; the problem is being alone. Genesis 2:18

  • Single – to be separate, whole, and unique. (the definition has been altered by the world’s order. (Satan) see II Corinthians 4:4
  • Singleness has been confused with being alone!
  • The Bible doesn’t teach singleness is bad or negative.
  • Marriage shouldn’t be considered until one is “separate, whole, and unique” totally single.
  • 99% of marital problems arise because a spouse doesn’t realize how unique he/she is.
  • God meant for Adam to “not” be alone, but single. (separate, whole, unique) Gen 2:18
  • Marriage was not instituted to solve the problem of being alone. Marriage will not solve loneliness!
  • Alone – exclusive, isolated, in a solitary state. “The sick marrying the sick is the worst thing that can happen”.
  • The goal of a Christian is to become completely “single”! (separate, whole, & unique) Therefore, strive to be SINGLE. Marriage will bring this into perspective. (Adam didn’t have time to look for a wife/companion! He was busy!) Marriage is honorable in itself. It’s what comes into marriage that causes trouble!!!
  • No human can meet soul or egotistical needs!!
  • No human can meet “Spiritual Needs”! — knowing who you are is the 1st step.
  • Most people DO NOT PREPARE to get married!! They just do it!!
  • Marriage is the 2nd level of GOD’s building of you. Singleness is the first level.
  • Marriage is necessary to fulfill some of God’s purposes, not necessarily for what the world OR the church has said it’s necessity is!!!
  • If you choose an unmarried life out of religious pressure, false spirituality, or past hurts IT IS WRONG!!!
  • Romance – According to the world, “I don’t know what I will do without you?” (ex.) This is NOT Love!! This is addiction!!!!!
  • Love is NOT a feeling: It is a DECISION! Matt. 26:39 (Jesus Chose to…)
  • The society of the world says that if you are single, you aren’t normal!
  • Pressure to marry is in all sorts of areas in life. Society looks at someone over 25 who is not married as being Odd.
  • Individuality is important to God!
  • Christians want God’s product of marriage, but not God’s ingredients! (LOVE)
  • That ingredient is not available without Jesus Christ!

The nation is talking about, ‘The first African American President.’ The nation is talking about, ‘change.’ The nation is saying, ‘Yes we can.’

What about you? What greatness has God placed in you, that you haven’t stepped up to? What barriers have you not overcome in your life? Why is it easy to believe in ‘change,’ except when it pertains to you? Why is it easy to believe that the impossible can happen, except for when it pertains to you? Why is it easy to believe, ‘Yes we can’, but difficult to believe, ‘Yes, I can’?

The Word of God says clearly, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 The Word of God clearly says, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27 NIV

What’s holding you back from just getting up and saying, ‘This is it! I will trust God and do what He has placed inside of me to do.’
What’s holding you back from accomplishing what He has called you to do?
What’s holding you back from walking away from the bondage that is in your life?

What? Do you think you can’t do it? The Bible says you can do it with Christ!
What? Do you think the dream is too big; the assignment is too deep; The requirements are too many; the time is too short; the odds are too great; the task it impossible ….
The Bible says, it is not impossible with God!

Say ‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.’
‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.’
‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.’
‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.’
‘I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.’

“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.” Mark 11:23 NIV

Keep A Steadfast Mind

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3

You probably know your share of people who are messing up their lives big time, and some are already on the brink of destruction. Why is this the case? Well, most people don’t practice keeping a steadfast mind. When your mind is steadfast, then it is firmly fixed in place. Isaiah 26 says, “…whose mind is stayed on thee…” The word ‘stayed’ is important here because it means your mind is not subject to change. Your mind is firm in belief, determination, or adherence.

For years, I’ve noticed that many successful people master this issue of the mind. They have learned how to be firmly fixed, or to take the position to follow after what is the right course of action. They will apply their decision to the end and do whatever it takes to sharpen themselves once their minds are determined. This is certainly true regarding the things of God. You’ll have victory in your life once you learn to keep a steadfast mind.Isaiah 26 continues by giving you the reason why you need a steadfast mind. God will keep you in perfect peace. Having perfect peace is what you should strive for. It means regardless of what comes your way, you’re cool and even-tempered. Nothing can upset, bother, or destroy you. You’re at rest with things and you operate in total confidence. When you learn to trust in God, the result is perfect peace. Yet, there are many Christians who don’t have this peace. Let’s examine why. James 1:5 says, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” You can’t go around your whole life as a man or woman of two minds, who is always hesitating. That’s being uncertain and unreliable about everything you think, feel, or decide. A steadfast mind is necessary in order to function in God’s perfect peace.

James, chapter 5 outlines the problem of an unstable person: he’s unstable in all his ways. Do you understand that a double-minded man is not just unstable in one area, but every single area of his life? But, you can have a steadfast mind! Just keep your mind stayed on God and His principles, and it will produce perfect peace and victory in your life.
