How Do You Love…..

We know that one thing God requires of us is to love one another.

John 13:34-35 (NLT)
34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

That is very wonderful but it made me think, “What about those people who don’t know how to love?” I ask this because in life you may have encountered people who don’t love themselves and one thing we know is if you don’t love yourself how can you love someone else. Maybe it’s low self-esteem or you were never shown love or just not shown a positive love. So in the case of people like that not only how do they love others but how are they able to love God?

Without love for God how do you seek to please Him?

  1. how do you continue to love someone that you know means you know good? they say all the right words may even qoute scriptures or claim to pray for you…but all the while they are a snake waiting for the right moment to stike. how do you continue to love that person when you know who they are and what they are all about? why be phony and fake about it and pretend that you are a friend?

  2. I believe that first step is not learning to love God or self, but recognizing the love that He has always had for you/us. When we truly open up to the fact that God loves us so that He gave his only Son to die for us. WOW!! That is an amazing kind of love. Once we realize THAT kind of love that God had shown and always show us…even before we knew of Him, even after learning of Him but still choose not to acknowledge Him..He yet and still continues to love us with an unconditional love. Once we really really take note of that there is now a sense of gratitude and thanks, wanting to love GOd back. But in the bible God states that if we love Him, we would keep his commandments and thats where “love thy neighbor…” comes into play. Its not only an act but a commandment of love towards God. Everything we need is in God’s word. He teaches and shows us how to love in His word. He led the example first if how to love, now we are to do as Christ did. Even as he was crusified and died on the cross he extended his everlasting love.
