It’s Not Worth It…

It’s not worth it. Following the lust of the flesh; temporary excitement; momentary satisfaction; short-lived pleasure; a brief thrill; it’s not worth it.  If we are walking upright; following God’s Word and listening for His voice; whatever we need, we will receive. It’s not worth it to compromise your eternal salvation for temporary satisfaction.

David, a man after God’s own heart… He knew God and he had experienced His power; protection; provision and peace. He knew what God could do and he knew what God had done. But even after all that God had done for David and through David, the king was still not satisfied; he still wanted more.  He had wives; he had wealth; he had position; he had power; he had favor; he had all that he needed and more. But still, he wanted something that wasn’t his; something that would compromise him and God’s Word. He still found the need to jeopardize his relationship with God…For what; for temporary excitement; momentary satisfaction; short-lived pleasure; a brief thrill?  It’s not worth it.

Whatever he needed God could have provided. Whatever he wanted God could have given. Whatever he asked for God could have given him more.

God told David,
“I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.” I Samuel 12:8 NIV

Once David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband Uriah, God was angry. God wanted to know why David would do this evil, in His sight. God let David know that as a result of his greediness; his unfaithfulness; his ungodly acts, there would be trouble in his family, and it began with the death of David and Bathsheba’s baby.  It’s not worth it!

Don’t compromise your eternal salvation for temporary satisfaction. Everything in this world is temporary and subject to change. Focus on the spiritual things; keep your mind on things above; store up your treasures in heaven. Don’t compromise God’s Word in your life… If you are partially committed to walking with God, you will never experience His fullness and His all…because you won’t give Him your fullness and your all.

If you are satisfied with a dysfunctional relationship with God; then maybe it’s worth it to you. But if you want it all, it’s not worth it!

Love somebody today who doesn’t love you; doesn’t care about you; won’t repay you, can’t repay you and doesn’t want to repay you…then you will be treating them the way God treated you…
